For over 30 years, EG&G’s principal business activity has been the design, development, test and support of unique and specialized real time data acquisition and control systems and instrumentation. We are skilled in the successful management and completion of large, complex domestic and international contract programs and have an excellent reputation for providing our customers with innovative, cost-effective solutions to their engineering problems. Examples of EG&G real time systems and instrumentation include:

Landmine detection systems. EG&G has performed successfully on several contracts for mine detection systems which required development of specialized sensors, data acquisition hardware, and processing algorithms. These systems employ a distributed data acquisition architecture to satisfy critical timing requirements. Detected land mines are marked in real time as the mine overpass capable vehicle travels down the road.

High speed transient measurement systems for electromagnetic pulse (EMP) simulation systems. EG&G has designed, installed and maintained automated EMP simulation systems and instrumentation throughout the world. Such systems are employed to measure the effects of a high-altitude nuclear burst on military electronic systems.

Custom wireless sensors. EG&G developed, manufactured and installed this intrinsically safe wireless sensor package to monitor vibration, pressure and temperature of rotating machinery. The attached controller then digitizes and transmits the information in real time via a wireless LAN. Application software then automatically determines health and maintenance needs of the monitored equipment.

Water management systems. EG&G has designed and installed water management systems worldwide, including the world’s largest irrigation control system covering over 600 miles of the Nile River. This wide-area system incorporates a unique RF communications network to connect hundreds of Remote Monitor Units to district control centers as well as a central location at the Ministry of Water Resources, providing real time display and control of water levels and flows.

Large-scale security systems. EG&G specializes in designing, installing, and maintaining complex, fully integrated perimeter security, access control, and facility/area monitoring systems. We provide both domestic and international clients with services ranging from risk and vulnerability analysis and system design to turnkey installation, training, and maintenance.
