OPTICAL
DATA SYSTEM (ODS-F)
The ODS-F is a wideband fiber optic (FO) data system
capable of measuring multiple test points by switching these test point inputs
to one or more (maximum of 255) FO analog data channels. Up to eight test points
can be connected to each FO analog data channel. Each FO analog data channel
consists of an EMP hardened (up to 100 kV/m) FO transmitter, a 200 meter length
FO cable and a FO receiver module, providing a 3dB bandwidth from 1 kHz to 150MHz
with 36 dB dynamic range.
A single controller, the ACU-14, can remotely
control from 1 to 255FO transmitters. Up to 8 each ODR-6F FO receiver modules
are mounted in an ODR chassis which includes an FO communications box and 1
x 8 optical power splitter to provide bi-directional control communication with
each transmitter. Multiple ODR chassis can be connected to a single ACU-14
controller.
The ODS-F may be provided with any mix of two types of FO transmitters.
The ODT-6F FO transmitter switches any one of eight 50ohm, SMA connector
inputs to its internal FO analog transmitter. The ODT-8F FO transmitter’s
single 50 ohm, type-N connector input may be switched directly to
its FO analog transmitter or through an internal one microsecond
active integrator for use with derivative E-M field sensors. Each
FO analog data channel has +40 dB gain and remotely controlled attenuators
to provide a system gain range from -64 to +40dB gain in 1 dB steps.
Each transmitter is provided with its own rechargeable battery pack,
the ABC-23A. The ACU-14 controller displays the battery voltage
of each transmitter.
The ODS-F may be provided in a number
of different configurations. An ODS-63F for example, provides three FO analog
data channels with three FO transmitters, three 200 meter length FO cables,
an ACU-14 controller, an ODR chassis, 3 ODR-6F modules and an ABC-15 three station
battery charger.
