Data Acquisition Systems

EG&G Albuquerque Operations is a diversified, vertically integrated company providing worldwide engineering and technical services. We have the engineering capability, experience, and resources to design, develop, fabricate, test and support instrumentation, sensor, command and control, and communications components and systems. Specialized data acquisition systems are a particular strength at EG&G Albuquerque.

We are an international leader in measurement technology for EMI effects such as Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), continuous wave (CW) directed energy, and lightning. We provide a broad line of related products and services to government and industry customers. From this base technology, EG&G has transformed into a fully integrated data acquisition system development organization providing hardware and software design, prototype development and testing, systems integration, data development, drafting, fabrication and assembly.

Many EG&G engineering programs require the development of unique sensors and sophisticated algorithms for sensor data fusion and feature extraction.

Examples of EG&G data acquisition systems include
  • High speed transient measurement systems for electromagnetic pulse (EMP) simulation systems. EG&G has also developed a line of wide-band optical data links for signal acquisition in extremely noisy environments. Such systems are employed to measure the effect of a high-altitude nuclear burst on military electronic systems.
  • Hydrometeorology stations for monitoring river levels and flow, precipitation, and other weather data. These systems report data from remote sites using RF transceivers and repeaters.
  • Water resource management system covering over 600 miles of the Nile River. This wide-area system incorporates a unique RF communications network to connect hundreds of Remote Monitor Units to district control centers as well as a central location at the Ministry of Water Resources.
  • Landmine detection systems. EG&G has performed successfully on several contracts for mine detection systems which required development of specialized sensors, data acquisition hardware, and processing algorithms. These systems employ a distributed data acquisition architecture to satisfy critical timing requirements.
  • Velocity of Detonation System. EG&G developed an instrument for the mining industry to measure the velocity at which the detonation of explosives occurs. This device is used to determine the completeness of detonation and thus the efficiency and effectiveness of blasting operations.
